On Capital Punishment

This morning, Jay sent me this article from The Hindu:

A well-written article.

I do not support capital punishment, but such stories will hardly have any impact on people except for generating temporary sympathy (sometimes) for the prisoner, because it just tells part of the story. It never mentions about the victim or the crime. Capital punishment can be discussed only when the victim's part of the story is also considered, including the heinous nature of the crimes which usually lead to death sentences and it still fails to provide a "just" cause for killing the offender under the name of law and order. From that angle, "Dead Man Walking" goes a long way in showing the true flavor of this controversy.....especially through the contrast in the last scene.
