Once upon a time, there was a little girl in a faraway kingdom. She was born in the middle of a dense forest in a lonely castle. Or atleast, ever since she came to senses, she found herself to be there. She never knew that there could be other people in the world, in fact she never knew that there could be a world outside her castle and the stretch of green that she can see touching the horizon. She grew up to think that she is alone, and that is how it is meant to be. So she lived a life as still as a deep dead sea, without feeling any emotions ever.
Then one day, for the first time, she heard some sound from a distance. It was like nothing she has ever heard before. Curious, she came running to the gate and to her surprise, found a horse approaching the gate. It was carrying another human being like her. But this creature was not exactly similar to how she looked, for it was a man - injured and exiled. She took the person in her arms hoping she can revive him, and nursed him with umpteen care. After few hours, he opened his eyes and looked at her. Oh! How deep and calm were those eyes. He touched her like a feather in a child's hand and, for the first time, she felt that this is what she has been waiting for all this while. She has been waiting to be seen and touched by another, atleast one human being. "Am I your first?" He asked. She nodded. And they made love.
She felt love. She felt joy. She felt complete. But then in few days, he wanted to leave for his land, for he has his family, wife and children there. He promised to return to take her back in a few weeks and show her the real world. So she nodded, they kissed and parted.
Weeks passed by without a stir, so did months and years. She never heard the horse approaching again. For the first time then, she felt pain, despair and she shed tears. And then again one day, she heard the hooves. With rekindled hope, she reached the gate, to find another man riding the horse. This man looked sharp, but tired. She gave him repose. He held her in his arms and asked, "Am I your first?" Everything else seemed to have deemed in past except for this warm strong shoulders. So she leaned against his chest and nodded. And he took her.
She felt it all over again, and it was as pure as the first time. Next morning, he wanted to leave, for he had to travel farther for business. But he promised to take her with him in return, and then they kissed goodbye.
Again the wait began. She felt anxious and down, but kept her hope alive for years. But no one returned. Then again one evening, she heard the hooves, and another man came by. He was old, and he sought shelter for rest of his days. As she offered him shelter, he smelled her and blessed. She felt blessed, and retired on his lap. The old man filled up her days with beautiful stories about the world she has never seen. They both had a happy, jolly time for a few months. And then one day, as she returned to her castle after getting some fruits, she found him gone.
Thus people came and people passed by. Some loved her, some did not. But all of them made love to her, and she loved all of them like she has never before. But then she could not bind anybody to be with her forever. And thus she became old. Her skin was wrinkled and hair turned gray. But still she kept waiting for her prince charming who would come and take her home. Her eyes became dull and skin became numb. Thus, years passed by.
And then again, on one gloomy evening, she heard the hooves. From a distance, she saw a man on the horseback. But she didn't run to the gate.
Rather, she pulled up some weeds and fire, and set the castle on fire. Everything around her kept burning and she kept staring at the voracious flames and laughed her heart out. She felt alive and complete! This time, she knew, exactly what gets her home.
